Codex Banked Reset: What It Does and When to Use It

A Banked Reset is an account-level option you may be able to save and use later. A public announcement cannot prove that your account has one—Settings → Usage is the source of truth.

Keep the three reset types separate

Natural refresh

Your 5-hour and weekly windows refresh at the times shown in Usage.

Banked Reset

A saved one-time account action; only your Usage page establishes availability and expiry.

Automatic / global reset

A public event applied directly to the announced eligible group; it does not become a saved Banked Reset.

What to check before using one

  1. Weekly remaining percentage and its next natural reset.
  2. When relevant, the 5-hour remaining percentage and reset time.
  3. Whether your own account shows a Banked Reset expiration.
  4. Whether you truly need capacity in the coming hours or days.

What happens after use

A full Banked Reset refreshes both eligible 5-hour and weekly windows and changes the weekly reset date. It is consumed only if at least one eligible window is successfully refreshed; if nothing is eligible, it remains available. Re-open Settings → Usage afterward instead of inferring the new state.
